Ah yes, a good ole fashioned quarterback controversy. If you can call it that.

Who do you pick if you are Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, uber-talented, high-upside sophomore J.J McCarthy or veteran Cade McNamara? Really, it’s a good problem for Harbaugh to have.

On3 Sports analyst J.D. PicKell has his pick.

“I would have a hard time turning my back on all the things that Cade McNamara did for that program and all the places he got them.” PicKell said via On3 Sports

He’s got a solid point. It’s hard to mess with a player that brought Michigan within two games of a National Title last season.

His competition is stiff, though. McCarthy totaled 34 completions on the season for 516 yards and 5 touchdowns last year. He was ranked as the No. 25 player in the class of 2021 that seems to be as well-rounded as any quarterback in the nation. McCarthy also faced some injury problems in the offseason but is thought to be back to 100% entering his sophomore campaign.

We’ll see. Michigan starts its season Sept 3 against Colorado State in Ann Arbor.
