It helps a lot when you have guys on your football team that are bought in to your philosophies. This is especially true of Iowa S Kaevon Merriweather, who spoke at B1G Media Days on Tuesday.
Merriweather is one of the upperclassmen leaders on Iowa’s football team, which is a great sign when it comes to Hawkeyes DC Phil Parker and how he runs his defense. Merriweather had 42 total tackles, 30 solo tackles, and 1 interception last season. He is ready for another great season under Parker, it seems.
“I think every player who plays on Phil Parker’s defense is committed to giving him 110 percent day in and day out,” said Merriweather. “Whether that be in practice, in the weight room, or on the field, especially in the film room as well. You know Coach Parker is going to give you everything he has, so you have to repay that and give him everything that you’ve got when you step across the line on that field.”
The Phil Parker Effect.
