Steal of the NFL Draft? Former Michigan State WR turning heads in Vikings camp

After 4 seasons at Michigan State, Jalen Nailor is looking to make an impact at the next level.

Nailor originally pledged to Arizona State but decommitted after then-head coach Todd Graham’s firing, ultimately playing for the Spartans. His yards-per-catch total of 19.8 led the B1G in 2020, coming 2nd in the conference in that category with 18.8 YPC in 2021.

Now, as a 6th-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings, Nailor will look to showcase his speed and ability to stretch the field in his first training camp. It appears he’s starting to do that, too, as on Monday, he was on the other end of a long touchdown pass from Vikings quarterback Kellen Mond, according to beat reporter Connor Leatch.

At least one former teammate of Nailor agrees with that assessment. As you can see below, Jayden Reed, a current member of the Spartans’ wide receiver corps, quote-tweeted Leatch, saying, “He is the steal”:

The Vikings don’t step onto the football field against an opponent until Aug. 14, when they open their preseason at the Las Vegas Raiders. But it sounds as if Nailor is gunning to be on Minnesota’s final 53-man roster by the time the regular season rolls around.
