West Division foes Nebraska and Northwestern will be the B1G’s first 2 teams to take the field in 2022 as they face off against each other in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 27.
Less than a week later, a cross-divisional matchup is set to take place in West Lafayette, as Purdue plays host to Penn State. The game has been declared a blackout by the Boilermakers and will see a national audience tuning in to FOX on Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
Unsurprisingly, FOX Sports will send its lead college football announcing crew to Ross-Ade Stadium for the contest. Per sports media insider Rudy Martzke, Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt will be in the booth, with Jenny Taft serving as the sideline reporter.
Penn State finished the 2021 season with a 7-6 mark (4-5 B1G), ending the year at 4th place in the B1G’s West Division while falling in the Outback Bowl to Arkansas. Purdue was 9-4 (6-3 B1G) and played to a 4th place finish in the East Division, defeating Tennessee in overtime of the Music City Bowl.
