Big Ten Network is on its annual bus tour across the fall camps going on throughout the conference. On Monday, BTN stopped in at Piscataway to check on Rutgers.
Among the early glimpses from the progress, BTN analyst Dave Revsine highlighted the 3-man QB battle for the Scarlet Knights. That group includes returning starter Noah Vedral, former 4-star prospect Gavin Wimsatt and Evan Simon.
Wimsatt especially drew the attention of Revsine with a beautiful deep ball. Revsine pointed out Wimsatt might not be ready for the full-time starting job to begin 2022 but looks like a key talent for the future.
QB battle is interesting at Rutgers. 3 guys in mix – Evan Simon, Noah Vedral and Gavin Wimsatt. Wimsatt’s talent is tantalizing – perfect ball here to Aron Cruickshank. Might not be ready to be opening day starter – but a fantastic future ahead pic.twitter.com/j0D79SJgzt

Wimsatt was originally a 4-star prospect in the class of 2022 but reclassified and joined the Scarlet Knights in 2021. Entering what would have been his true freshman season, it will be interesting to see if Wimsatt can carve out some playing time in 2022.
