James White, former Wisconsin star, announces NFL retirement

James White was a productive running back at Wisconsin before heading to the NFL. Now, after 8 strong seasons with the New England Patriots, White is officially hanging it up.
He announced on Thursday that he is retiring from the NFL.
“It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates, and the people of New England as a Patriot! Reflecting on my nine years in the NFL, and all the sacrifices it took to get here, there are many people that were just as much part of this journey,” wrote White.

In the NFL, White finished with over 3,200 yards receiving and over 1,200 yards rushing with 36 career touchdowns. White was also a part of 3 Super Bowl titles while with the Patriots.
While at Wisconsin, White produced a pair of 1,000-yard seasons and finished with 4,015 rushing yards and over 4,600 yards of offense. He is 1 of 6 Badgers to eclipse 4,000 yards and ranks 5th on the program’s all-time list with 45 rushing touchdowns.
