Scott Frost confirmed the progress of Nebraska’s punting and kicking games is heading in a positive direction. Nebraska went into the off-season needing to replace several starters on offense, defense, and special teams, that includes the kicker and punter.

Nebraska used this off-season to find their full-time starters at kicker and punter by using the transfer porta. Former Furman kicker/punter Timmy Bleekrode is looking to start at kicker for Nebraska and former Montana transfer Brian Buschini is looking to start at punter this 2022 season.

Fortunately for the Huskers, Frost confirmed Saturday that he feels great about the kicker and punter right now. Those positions still have to produce in game situations, but practice has apparently provided good signs for Frost.

The kicking game for Nebraska was bad last season as both of its kickers only made 50% of their field goals. Nebraska lost their starting punter in William Przystup, who averaged 43.4 yards per punt.

Special teams is a big concern for the remainder of the off-season, especially with the scrimmage set for Sunday. Nebraska will kick off its 2022 season versus B1G foe Northwestern on Aug. 27 in Dublin, Ireland.
