DJ Matthews started 4 games for Indiana before a knee injury brought his 5th season in college football to a screeching halt. Now, he returns for his 6th and final year with plenty to prove.

On Sunday Matthews told Zach Osterman of the Indy Star that he was starting to feel like himself again for the first time since his injury against Western Kentucky.

That injury, an ACL tear after a strong start to the season in 2021, was a strange feeling for Matthews. He recalled the helpless feeling on Monday.

“It was a feeling I’d never felt before,” Matthews told Dustin Dopirak of the Bloomington Herald-Times. “I usually bounce right up and I didn’t bounce right up.”
