Another thing that Michigan State has to replace this fall is a kicker after Matt Coghlin ran out of eligibility. Mel Tucker isn’t sure who the team is going to go with at the kicking position.

Coghlin set records for points scored (382) and most field goals made (76), and finished his career ranked as 1 of the best Michigan State kickers in PAT percentage (1st with 100%, 148-148 made). Tucker stated that he is unsure on the number of kickers the team will use, but that there will be a lot more opportunities ahead according to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.

“It’s too early to say for sure to say about how many guys we’re gonna use,” said Tucker. “We’re not clear right now who’s gonna be the guy, but we still have plenty of opportunities to find out.”

While it’s still very early on, it won’t be easy to replicate Coghlin’s level of production.
