College football rankings for the 2022 season are still being compiled in the preseason. That continued on Tuesday with ESPN officially revealing their Preseason Power Rankings in college football.

Those power rankings are compiled with ballots produced by 48 ESPN college football experts. Those ballots are sorted to complete the consensus list.

Leading the way on the power rankings is a familiar top 4. Nick Saban’s Alabama squad – and returning Heisman QB Bryce Young – claimed the top spot. The Crimson Tide are also No. 1 on the preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll and AP Top 25.

Behind Alabama, the top 4 consist of Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson. Based on the power rankings Notre Dame and Utah would be the first two teams outside of the College Football Playoff.

Michigan (No. 8), Michigan State (No. 15) and Wisconsin (No. 18) were the other B1G teams in the top 25.

Texas – a team that received a surprise first-place vote on the coaches poll – was No. 23. Miami – a program that was ranked No. 4 on one AP ballot – was No. 16 on ESPN’s list.
