Ray Lewis made no shortage of big-time plays in the state of Maryland. The future Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker was an institution for the Baltimore Ravens for 17 years.

Now, his son will have a chance to make some plays in the state of Maryland.

Rayshad Lewis, Ray’s son, announced that he’s transferring from Utah State to Maryland in 2017:

Lewis was a two-star recruit out of Orlando in the 2016 class, but he earned significant snaps as a true freshman at Utah State. In fact, he started seven games and caught 40 passes for 476 yards and two touchdowns.

Three weeks ago, Lewis made the announcement that he was transferring. That was after he flashed some ability to play both sides of the ball during the spring. Lewis was cornerback recruit out of high school.

It remains to be seen what type of role he’ll develop into at Maryland. Per NCAA transfer rules, he’ll have to sit out the 2017 season, but he’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.

Rayshad isn’t the first Lewis descendant to join the program. Ray Lewis’ brother, Keon Lattimore, played for Maryland a decade ago,

Needless to say, Rayshad wouldn’t mind becoming another Lewis family fan favorite in Maryland.
