Pro Football Focus released its Top 5 preseason defensive rookie grades on Wednesday. 2 former B1G linebackers made the list.
Former Wisconsin LB Jack Sanborn and former Michigan LB Josh Ross represented the B1G on the list. Sanborn actually had the highest grade among all the rookies from the 1st week of the preseason (94.0). Ross had the 4th-highest grade with a 91.5.

Sanborn and Ross are already off to good starts in their NFL careers after the 1st preseason games. Sanborn currently plays for the Chicago Bears, while Ross was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bears got a 19-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Sanborn’s 1st preseason game. He finished the game with 7 total tackles, 7 solo tackles, and 1 tackle for loss. Ross picked up 4 total and 3 solo tackles in the Ravens’ 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Other rookies that made the Top 5 were Martin Emerson (Cleveland Browns, 93.1 ), Samuel Womack (San Francisco 49ers, 92.6), and Chase Lucas (Detroit Lions, 91.5).
