Eyabi Anoma discusses maturation process, ‘blessed’ to get opportunity with Michigan

Eyabi Anoma has had a long career of finding where he belongs. This off-season, Anoma believes he found his home in Ann Arbor playing for Michigan, making his transfer official this past Thursday.
Anoma signed with Alabama as a former 5-star prospect and the fourth-rated overall prospect in the 2018 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite. After Alabama, Anoma transferred to Houston and sat out due to NCAA transfer rules.
He again transferred to UT-Marin, where he finally played as a redshirt sophomore, where he accounted for 36 total tackles, 14 solo tackles, 9.5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, 3 quarterback hits, and 1 forced fumble.
He is with Michigan a few weeks before they host Colorado State on Sept. 3. He will provide instant depth and contributions to the defense of Michigan.
In a video on social media, Anoma discussed the process that led to coming to Ann Arbor (Via The Michigan Insider):
“It’s all the small things,” Anoma said, using as an example having the initiative to wake up early to meet with coaches about play design. “Game time doesn’t start on game day. It’s the preparation before game day. That’s what I’m learning too.”
“I’m not perfect. You feel me? That’s why I told social media, I’m grateful for the positive and negative remarks because it’s straight. Everyone has a right to feel how they feel about me but it’s like, also understand one thing: The same young man that they felt that they knew when I was at Bama and throughout my journey is not the same young man that I am right now.”
In the end, Anoma is just grateful and blessed for an opportunity to suit up for the Wolverines:
“Go blue, for sure,” he said. “I’m just blessed to be in this position. Blessed to be with an incredible fan base. Incredible coaches. This is a blessing.”
