Apparently, it’s not the best day to be a former Badger playing for the Green Bay Packers.
On the same day of the release of former Wisconsin WR Danny Davis, a source divulged that fellow former Badger Cole Van Lanen was being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Packers are trading OL Cole Van Lanen, a Green Bay native, to the Jaguars, a source said. It’s for an undisclosed draft pick.

The departure of Van Lanen brings the pack under the league requirement of 80 roster spots, settling just one under at 79. The trade could also benefit Van Lanen, who might have a better opportunity to play with the Jaguars than he did with the Packers. With the exception of center, Van Lanen served in every OL position, and could be quite a versatile player for the Jaguars.
Van Lanen was taken by Green Bay in round 6 of the 2021 NFL Draft. The former Wisconsin player was signed to the practice squad after being released at the end of training camp.
The former Badger will work to make the roster as a Jaguar for the season opening against the Commanders on Sept. 3 2022.
