Drake Harris is going to switch positions before the 2017 season. That’s right, the Michigan receiver announced via Twitter that he’ll be moving to the other side of the ball to try his hand at cornerback.

Harris announced the change on Monday night:

Considering the depth issues for the Wolverines in the secondary heading into the 2017 season, the move might mean a bigger role for Harris, and potentially more playing time.

In two seasons, he’s appeared in 21 games at receiver according to MGoBlue.com. He’s caught just eight total passes for 50 yards. In 2016, he had just two receptions.

Harris’ decision doesn’t guarantee a more pivotal role, but since he’s moving to a position of need, he’s likely to make a bigger impact than if he stayed at receiver.
