Michigan has announced its captains for the 2022 season. The Wolverines are looking for a repeat season after winning the 2021 B1G Championship over Iowa.

The five team captains include Erick All Jr., Mike Sainristil, Cade McNamara, Ronnie Bell, and Mazi Smith.

Cade McNamara is currently competing with J.J. McCarthy for Michigan’s quarterback job. Should fans read into this selection?

Either QB will likely be throwing to Ronnie Bell on the outside. Bell missed much of last season to a knee injury. Overall, he has caught 83 balls for 1,380 yards and five touchdowns in his Michigan career.

Mike Sainristil is expected to play defense and could see time on both sides of the ball in 2022. Sainristil had 22 receptions for 312 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

6-foot-5 Erick All Jr. is the man at tight end. All Jr. caught 38 passes for 437 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

Mazi Smith will be one of the leaders on defense. The defensive tackle has some big shoes to fill after the unit lost Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo to the NFL.
