Donny Navarro is at Northwestern after beginning his college career at Illinois. He’s already making an impression for the Wildcats, reeling in a clutch contested grab to set up a score in the first quarter.

After coming across the middle against the Huskers, Navarro went up for a throw from starting quarterback Ryan Hilinski. The ball was on the money and Navarro snagged the ball, but Nebraska’s Marques Buford Jr. laid the lumber on the catch.

The hit was an impressive one with a clean shoulder delivered viciously to Navarro. The receiver was unbothered, reeling in the grab and holding on through the contact.

Northwestern would stall out in the red zone, but Navarro’s grab set up the first points for the Wildcats to make it 7-3, Nebraska.

Navarro has 2 early catches for 20 yards against the Huskers. We’ll see if he develops a go-to relationship with Hilinski throughout the season opener.
