Scott Frost and Nebraska started the season 0-1 after the disappointing 31-28 loss to Northwestern.

Nebraska’s offense, led by new coordinator Mark Whipple, managed to get 466 total yards against the Wildcats defense. New quarterback Casey Thompson also threw for 355 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 INTs. Running back Anthony Grant eclipsed the 100-yard mark and 2 touchdowns.

Still, Nebraska gave up a big second-half lead that eventually led to the heartbreaking loss.

Following the game, Frost had some choice words for Whipple and his offensive assistants.

“I think our offensive staff has to learn you’ve got to be a little more creative in this league,” Frost said, via CBS Sports Dennis Dodd.

Whipple, of course, came to Nebraska from Pittsburgh where he helped Kenny Pickett grow into a high draft pick. It’s also worth noting that the Cornhuskers offense started off hot with a long touchdown drive. Thompson had the offense in gear in the first half, but the second half was a different story.

Will Frost make it through another average Nebraska season? Things are about to heat up in Lincoln.

Ahead of the Huskers are North Dakota and Georgia Southern before a big showdown against Oklahoma at home. Things need to improve quickly so this doesn’t get out of hand for Frost and the Cornhuskers.
