Week 0 is a monumental day for Illinois offensive tackle Alex Palczewski as he started his 53rd career start. Palczeksi’s 53rd career start is not only a record for the Illinois football program, it is the most among all active FBS players.
Palczewski has been with the Illinois football program since arriving as a freshman in the 2017 college football season. He had 36 consecutive starts through 2019. He missed four games in 2020 due to injury.

In his previous 52 starts before Saturday’s game against Wyoming, Palczewski started 36 games at tackle and 16 at guard. He started the game at right tackle for Illinois as the Illini host Wyoming for the Week 0 game.
Palczewski was the 125th rated offensive tackle and the 39th rated overall prospect from the state of Illinois in the 2017 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite.
