Week 0 is a monumental day for Illinois offensive tackle Alex Palczewski as he started his 53rd career start. Palczeksiโ€™s 53rd career start is not only a record for the Illinois football program, it is the most among all active FBS players.

Palczewski has been with the Illinois football program since arriving as a freshman in the 2017 college football season. He had 36 consecutive starts through 2019. He missed four games in 2020 due to injury.

In his previous 52 starts before Saturdayโ€™s game against Wyoming, Palczewski started 36 games at tackle and 16 at guard. He started the game at right tackle for Illinois as the Illini host Wyoming for the Week 0 game.

Palczewski was the 125th rated offensive tackle and the 39th rated overall prospect from the state of Illinois in the 2017 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite.
