Bret Bielema updates injury status for pair of offensive pieces for the Illini

Bret Bielema and Illinois rolled to a big win in Week 0, rolling past Wyoming by a score of 38-6.
The Illini put up that performance behind a balanced offensive attack. Quarterback Tommy DeVito played well for much of the afternoon while star running back Chase Brown had a trio of touchdowns in the game.
Unfortunately, Illinois did have a couple of offensive pieces dinged up in the win. No. 2 RB Josh McCray was helped off the field and seen with ice on his knee after a hyperextension.
Isaiah Williams – the team’s leading receiver from 2021 – was also removed from the game and was later seen riding on the training cart to the locker room.
After the game, Bielema confirmed Williams did not sustain an injury in the game. The receiver was dealing with cramps and should be fine moving forward.
As for McCray, Bielema said test results are still being run on the injured knee. For now, Bielema did say that he does not believe the injury to be anything catastrophic.
#illini Bret Bielema: Isaiah Williams was just cramping. Could've put him back in.
Wait and see on Josh McCray. "I don't think it's anything catastrophic."

Hopefully McCray is okay and will be able to return to the field quickly.
