Josh McCray left Illinois’ game against Wyoming early with an injury. Regardless of Chase Brown’s magnificent performance against the Cowboys, head coach Bret Bielema provided updates on the status of Illinois’ running back unit after declaring McCray out for Week 1.
#illini Bret Bielema: Josh McCray won’t be with us this week. Don’t know long term prognosis. Shawn Miller is out this week.

Bielema started by naming Aidan Laughery as a guy that could get more reps following McCray’s injury.
#illini Bret Bielema: I think we’ll have Aidan Laughery this week.

Laughery was inactive for Illinois’ opener against the Cowboys. He will make his college debut Saturday against the Indiana Hoosiers.
And while one true freshman might see his first action, Bielema seems to be saving another for another time.
#illini Bret Bielema said big freshman RB Jordan Anderson has a bright future, just doesn’t know if it’s “right now.”

Anderson is a former 3-star prospect out of Joliet, Illinois.
