Jim Knowles is heading into his first season opener as the defensive coordinator at Ohio State. On Tuesday, he took to the podium to address the media and preview the matchup against Notre Dame.
Asked about the attention of his defense, Knowles said the unit is “100% ready to go.” He was also asked if he would take a moment to reflect on the game ahead of kickoff, his first primetime top-5 matchup.
Knowles said he’ll pass on the reflection, opting to say locked in and focused. At the end of the day, that’s what Knowles said his players need.
“I’m gonna stay focused and in a locked-in mindset and do my job. That’s what the players need,” Knowles explained.
Knowles also said Ohio State hasn’t announced a decision yet on where he will operate for the game. At the end of the day, all that matters is what’s best for the defense.
We’ll see if his unit is able to lock in early against the Irish.
