ESPN released its Playoff Predictor on Tuesday, naming Ohio State as having the best odds to reach the national championship.

ESPN’s Playoff Predictor changes weekly based on gameday stats, and determines which teams have a realistic chance to be one of the four in the College Football Playoff. Each of the past 8 champions had a preseason percentage of 65% or greater. According to the model, the Buckeyes have an 83% chance of making the final 4.

The Buckeyes have a less-than-easy schedule, facing Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin during the regular season. Ohio State opens the season against No. 5 ranked Notre Dame. The loser of that game will not automatically be eliminated from a playoff spot, but no -loss team has ever been selected. The Buckeyes are a 17.5-point favorite. Will it be enough to help secure their spot in the playoffs? If the Playoff Predictor is to be believed, chances are good.
