College football schedule: 16 games happen Thursday (September 1, 2022)

College football Week 1 is here in all its glory.

It may not be Saturday’s slate of 57 games, but it’ll do for now. 16 games are on the slate for Thursday, Sept. 1 including a pair of games including 3 B1G programs: Penn State, Purdue and Minnesota.

Penn State and Purdue headline the night for the B1G and the college football landscape as a whole. Three top 25 teams (Wake Forest, Pitt and Oklahoma State) will kickoff their seasons Thursday night as well.

Here’s the full slate of Thursday games for Week 1.

  • St. Francis (PA) at Akron, 6 p.m. on ESPN3
  • Central Michigan at 12 Oklahoma, 7 p.m. on FS1
  • West Virginia at 17 Pittsburgh, 7 p.m. on ESPN
  • Ball State at Tennessee, 7 p.m. on SEC Network
  • South Carolina State at UCF, 7 p.m. on ESPN+
  • Bryan at Florida International, 7 p.m. on ESPN3
  • Long Island University at Toledo, 7 p.m. on ESPN3
  • VMI at 22 Wake Forest, 7:30 p.m. on ACC Network
  • Penn State at Purdue, 8 p.m. on FOX
  • Eastern Illinois at Northern Illinois, 8 p.m. on ESPN+
  • Alabama A&M at UAB, 8 p.m. on CBSSN
  • Louisiana Tech at Missouri, 8 p.m. on ESPNU
  • New Mexico State at Minnesota, 9 p.m. on Big Ten Network
  • Northern Arizona at Arizona State, 10 p.m. on Pac12 Network
  • Cal Poly at Fresno State, 10:30 p.m. on FS1
  • Portland State at San Jose State, 10:30 p.m.
