Penn State defender gets ejected on first defensive snap on controversial call

Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter was ejected on his first career snap for the Nittany Lions.

Early in the second quarter, Carter appeared to be trying to get the football on an incomplete pass from Purdue quarterback Aidan O’Connell, and he was ejected on a controversial targeting call. However, the call could have gone either way. In this case, it went against Carter.

With the help of the personal foul penalty called on Carter, Purdue scored its first touchdown of the season. The Boilermakers went on an 8-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to take the lead 10-7 over Penn State.
