Drew Allar time? Sean Clifford seen leaving for locker room in 2nd half vs. Purdue
By Paul Harvey
Published:
Drew Allar is a true freshman quarterback and 5-star prospect from Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class. He entered the Week 1 season opener as the backup QB for the Nittany Lions, but he might see action in the second half.
When the teams came out from halftime in West Lafayette, starter Sean Clifford was seen jogging off the field and back to the locker room to start the 3rd quarter. It is unclear what – if anything – is wrong with Clifford, but he did appear to tweak his left knee on one low hit.
With Clifford leaving the field, Allar was seen warming up on the sideline with the assumption he is getting ready to make his entrance. Stay tuned.

***UPDATE***
Allar did stay on the field to open the second half for Penn State’s first possession after halftime.
If there was something bothering Clifford in the first half, it did not affect his play. He accounted for all 3 Penn State touchdowns, including a short rushing touchdown.
Clifford also ended the first half with a scramble drill before finding Brenton Strange for a huge touchdown. We’ll have to wait and see if he returns to the field in time to lead the offense.
As for Allar, he is a 5-star prospect and the No. 4 QB nationally for the class of 2022 via the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
