Aidan O’Connell is making the most of Charlie Jones’ debut with Purdue. That duo also combined to help Purdue retake the lead over Penn State late in the 3rd quarter.

After falling behind 21-10 at halftime, Purdue responded with a 14-0 run after halftime. That included a beautiful pass from O’Connell to Jones in the back of the end zone.

Facing 2nd-and-goal, O’Connell benefited from good protection from his offensive line. That gave him just enough time to let Jones break open across the very back of the end zone for the touchdown.

It is Jones’ first game as a Boilermaker since leaving Iowa, and he is turning in a brilliant debut. Jones is already up to 8 catches (a new career-high) for 101 yards and a touchdown.

We’ll see how high Jones is able to push those numbers, but he apppears right at home in the No. 1 WR role left vacant by David Bell’s NFL departure.
