Kirk Herbstreit was pleased with how the Penn State-Purdue game on Thursday night went, much like the neutral fans who watched.
The game ended up going back and forth with a game-winning drive from Penn State QB Sean Clifford. The Nittany Lions scored with just under 1 minute to go in the game, winning 35-31.
If that game was an indication, it should be another great season of college football. Herbstreit is just as excited about this season as anyone.
“2 incredible games and atmospheres last night in CFB,” said Herbstreit. “Both with big stakes and both coming down to the final minutes. A quick reminder of why we all love this sport so much. Can’t wait for the next 4 days! Happy Week 1 to everyone!”

The other game he was referencing was the return of the Backyard Brawl series between West Virginia and Pitt. That game also came down to the wire with USC transfer Kedon Slovis besting his former teammate J.T. Daniels after a dropped pass on 4th down.
The 2022 college football season is off to a pretty good start.
