P.J. Fleck was at the podium following his team’s 38-0 win over New Mexico State. The Minnesota HC spoke about a variety of topics.
Mohamed Ibrahim played in his 1st game since having his season ended last year by a lower-leg injury. He had a strong performance, with 132 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.
“What he’s been through, and what he’s overcome is what Row The Boat is all about,” said Fleck. “A year ago today all the NIL stops, NFL talks stop. What does he do? He focuses on getting better, he focuses on his teammates. He never made it about himself.”

Part of the reason why Minnesota was able to run the ball so well was due to the play of the offensive line. The Golden Gophers ran for 297 yards rushing, and Fleck is proud of how hard his O-line played.
“I love that they played incredibly hard,” said Fleck. “I think we gotta play with a lower pad level. I still gotta watch the film, but they were engaged the entire time. We were able to do multiple things, from the inside zone and outside zone.”
“I think we’re gonna look at that film and say that we can better up front.”

It hasn’t been an easy ride for Tanner Morgan either. Morgan has had to deal the loss of his father and has also gotten married recently. Nonetheless, Fleck couldn’t be prouder of his QB.
“He’s earned a lot,” said Fleck. “He’s handled them, as a man should handle them with accountability, responsibility, and leadership. With each progression, you could see Kirk Ciarrocca speaking to him.”
