Penn State ended up winning against Purdue in a great season opening contest. The Nittany Lions had a player achieve a record after the game as well.

Joey Porter Jr. had 6 forced incompletions against Purdue. This means he is tied for the record for incompletions in a game among Power 5 CBs since PFF started keeping track of college football in 2014.

Penn State ended up beating Purdue 35-31 thanks to some late-game heroics from QB Sean Clifford. It definitely helps out the offense a lot when have you a cornerback that is this disruptive.

Porter has appeared in 21 games for the Nittany Lions since getting to campus in 2019. He has had 61 solo tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack and 1 interception during his time there.

If Penn State wants to get over the hump, it’s going to need players like Porter to continue to be a force on the defensive side of the ball.

For their next game, the Nittany Lions will be taking on Ohio at noon ET on Sept. 10.
