CJ Stroud and Ohio State’s offense finally showed some signs of life late in the third quarter. As a result, the Buckeyes took a 14-10 lead over Notre Dame.

It has been far from easy in Week 1 against the Irish. Stroud and the offense are missing star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba who was banged up early in the game.

On the go-ahead scoring drive, Stroud accounted for 71 yards through the air and engineered some pretty throws for the offense. One was a brilliant throw to a sliding Emeka Egbuka off a scramble drill near the sideline.

The score came on a 3rd-and-11 play from the 24-yard line. With Notre Dame bringing the pressure, Ohio State’s offensive line gave just enough cushion for Stroud to step into the pocket.

In the process, Stroud found Xavier Johnson open down the middle of the defense for the touchdown:

We’ll see if Ohio State can hold onto the lead in the fourth.
