Marcus Freeman was displeased when he gave his immediate reaction to Notre Dame’s loss to Ohio State on Saturday night.

Notre Dame fell to Ohio State by 11 points, 21-10. It was a closer result than most expected and Notre Dame received positive marks for taking a lead into halftime and keeping the game close until the end. Freeman was not as upbeat with the result since a win was in his team’s reach.

Freeman wanted to win the game and he did not find any moral victories in the loss, per On3’s Tyler Horka:

“We’re not in it for moral victories, man,” Freeman said.

Notre Dame held a 3-point lead heading into the locker room after the 1st half. That lead slipped away and Notre Dame went scoreless in the 2nd half.

His team had a chance to win the game but they failed to close it out down the stretch. Freeman wanted to see his team finish the game with a win, per 957 Sports’ Angelo Di Carlo:

“We have a good football team but we have to learn to finish,” Freeman said.

This was Freeman’s 1st regular season game as Notre Dame’s head coach. He has an 0-2 record as a head coach.

Notre Dame will search for its 1st win of the season against Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 10 in South Bend.
