Purdue fell just short in its first test of the season.

The Boilermakers couldn’t put the ball in the end zone in the final drive. The Penn State defensive line played a fantastic game, holding the Boilermakers to just 70 yards rushing and Iowa transfer playmaker Tyrone Tracy to just 9 yards from the backfield.

And head coach Jeff Brohm says that’s just not good enough.

Avoiding being one-dimensional is important for any offense. The Boilermakers attempted just 23 rushed opposed to 58 passes Friday evening. Starting quarterback Aidan O’Connell wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire either, he totaled 356 yards passing, sure, but also finished with a quarterback rating of 69.4 and threw just 29 completions for 1 touchdown in those 58 attempts.
