PJ Fleck announced Monday that Minnesota’s Week 2 matchup against Western Illinois would be the program’s Mental Health Awareness Game.
Fleck has been adamant to include this awareness game as a head football coach, dating back to his time at Western Michigan. He told media of the plan for Week 2 on Monday to start his weekly press conference.
“Just wanted to announce that this is our mental health awareness game, pretty much been doing this about 10 years now as a head football coach, think it’s really important with one of the biggest growing concerns in our world, especially with student athletes.” Fleck said Monday.
It’s okay not to be okay 💛
This week we will hold our annual Mental Health Game. In partnership with @RachelBaribeau and others, we’re bringing awareness to the importance of taking care of your whole health.

Taking care of your mental health is important. It’s nice to see Fleck leading the charge alongside so many others in college football in raising awareness to a prevalent issue in our society.
