Sean Clifford’s performance against Purdue got him an award. He played a key role in the 35-31 comeback victory, and earned the Rose Bowl Game B1G Player of the Week award for Week 1.

Clifford had 282 yards passing, and 5 total touchdowns against the Boilermakers. He also led the game-winning drive that ended with a touchdown pass to running back Keyvone Lee. This is the 2nd time that Clifford has won the award. The 1st time was back in Week 6 of 2019.

Penn State is going to need games like this out of Clifford if it wants to compete for a B1G title. It has been 6 years since Penn State won their last. James Franklin secured that with a win over Wisconsin in the B1G Championship game in 2016.

Clifford will get another chance to outdo his efforts from Week 1 when the Nittany Lions play Ohio.

That game kicks off Saturday at noon ET on ABC.
