Things have gotten off to a good start in Bloomington. The Hoosiers are 1-0 following a 23-20 victory over Illinois.

Part of the reasoning for that is the play of quarterback Connor Bazelak. Bazelak tossed for 330 yards and a touchdown in the victory over the Fighting Illini.

Bazelak also recorded the most big-time throws among Power 5 QBs in week 1. Bazelak, who transferred from Missouri, threw for 2,548 yards and 16 touchdowns to 11 interceptions for the Tigers last season.

Bazelak will look to repeat that performance against Idaho this Saturday.

Another strong showing from Indiana came via defensive back Noah Pierre. He was the B1G’s best-run defender last weekend, per PFF grades.

Pierre finished the game against Illinois with 6 registered tackles. The redshirt senior finished last season with 36 stops, including 4 pass breakups and 1 interception.

Overall, the performances by Bazelek and Pierre should come as a welcome for Indiana fans. After all, the Hoosiers went 0-9 in the B1G last season.
