On Thursday morning, Michigan State’s head football coach, Mel Tucker weighed in on the expectations of the team while on College Sports on Sirius XM.

Coming off a Peach Bowl win over Pitt last December, the goals and expectations for the Spartans remain the same as before, in terms of success.

With the same focus and mentality on the process itself, instead of the trophies and accolades, Tucker wants people to realize that the Spartans have a lot of goals to accomplish.

All the expectations relating to success are one of the hot topics that Tucker had to draw light to as Michigan State begins its season.

“It’s never as bad as you think. Last year, that’s in the past, the distant past,” Mel Tucker said on Sirius XM’s College Sports show. “No one really cares what we did a year ago. I don’t think anyone is really expecting us to do really anything this season. Again we were picked by a few folks to finish fourth in the Big Ten east, alone. Nothing’s changed for us.”

After a dramatic 11-win season last year, the pressure is on to maintain the results in East Lansing. So far, it sounds like Tucker and the Spartans have their minds in the right place.

No. 14 Michigan State  will be taking on Akron at home on Sept. 10 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
