Michigan State is gearing up for their Week 2 game against Akron.

MSU and Akron will meet at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday and the Spartans are seen as a massive favorite heading into this game.

To lead the Spartans, the team has announced that its captains will be Jayden Reed, Jacoby Windmon and Elijah Collins.

This will be Reed’s first captain honor of the 2022 season along with the first honor for Windmon and Collins’s Michigan State careers, respectively. Just last week Windmon received praise with seven tackles, three solo tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble. While Collins made moves on special teams in the win over Western Michigan.

There will be no Xavier Henderson as captain, after suffering an injury last week. Henderson has been captain for the last 14 straight games, dating all the way back to last season’s opener against Northwestern.

The Spartans seek to add another game to the win column over Akron in this non-conference match up.
