Minnesota reveals special helmet decal for Mental Health Game in Week 2

The Minnesota Golden Gophers revealed a special green ribbon decal on their helmet Saturday.
The green ribbon is the international symbol of mental health awareness, and will be worn for Minnesota’s annual Mental Health Game.

Minnesota’s head coach, PJ Fleck, has hosted a Mental Health game at each of his prior schools to bring awareness to mental health. When he became head coach at Minnesota in 2017, he brought the tradition with him. In his press conference on Monday, Fleck stressed the importance of the cause, saying
“Just wanted to announce that this is our mental health awareness game, pretty much been doing this about 10 years now as a head football coach, think it’s really important with one of the biggest growing concerns in our world, especially with student athletes.”
The Gophers take on Western Illinois on Saturday.
