Chicago received one of the more bizarre unsportsmanlike conduct penalties Sunday against the 49ers after wiping down the field.
Bears’ punter Trenton Gill came on to the field during a dead ball period and wiped down the field with a towel.
"Unsportsmanlike conduct. Chicago, #16. Brought a towel out on the field during the dead-ball period and wiped the field down. By rule that's illegal."

The field Sunday was covered with water after torrential rainfall hit Chicago over the weekend. Gill took to himself to dry the field off, but it didn’t pay off. Gill was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty, as the official claimed that, by rule, it was illegal to do so.
While Chicago might laugh it off when the game is over, the penalty took the Bears out of field goal range as the half winded down.
The Bears currently lead the 49ers 19-10 in the fourth quarter.
