The B1G East is off to an undefeated start to the 2022 season, and it is the only division in FBS without a loss heading into Week 3.
Each East team – 7 total – is 2-0 through the first two weeks of the season. That includes a pair of crossover games won against the B1G West: Indiana over Illinois and Penn State over Purdue.
Teams in the East have outscored opponents 574 to 194 through two weeks. Indiana – the lowest scoring team in the division to start the year – is averaging 29 points per game (58 points total).
By contrast, the B1G West is 9-7 thus far on the season with three teams scoring less than Indiana’s 58 points.
The next closest division in the country through Week 2 is the SEC West with those teams combining for a 12-2 record. Those two losses were by LSU (to FSU in Week 1) and Texas A&M who was upset at home by Appalachian State in Week 2.
Competition gets a bit stiffer across the board in Week 3 – including Penn State and Michigan State hitting the road for Power 5 road trips – so we’ll see if the B1G East can keep this up for another week.
