TJ Watt’s injury in the season opener for the Pittsburgh Steelers could have a serious impact on the rest of the season for the team. Though Watt is undergoing more tests, there is a fear he has suffered a torn pectoral that would sideline him for a long time.
On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport updated Watt’s status and what options Watt and the team are considering. For now, the team is trying to determine if surgery or rehab will be the best route for Watt.
“Does he need surgery – which would knock him out at least until the end of the season – or can he rehab and return in a couple of weeks? Both of those options are on the table,” reported Rapoport. “There is a possibility he does not need surgery immediately which would be great.”

Watt was a dominant player during the 2021 season. We’ll see if he’s able to return to the field at some point in 2022 in the days ahead.
