Caden Curry, Ohio State freshman, draws rave review from Buckeye coaching staff

Caden Curry did not need a long time to make his impact felt at Ohio State. Now, he could be a staple of the Buckeyes’ defensive front moving into Week 3.
Curry finished with 4 total tackles and a tackle for loss in Ohio State’s 45-12 win over Arkansas State Saturday. Through 2 games, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound defender has been the only true freshman to see snaps in both outings.
Not only has Curry caught the fan base’s attention, but coaches continue to rave about his upside on the defensive line. Both head coach Ryan Day and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles praised the freshman from Indiana for his work ethic and attention to detail in practice.
“The more he plays the more he’s gonna find a role for himself,” Day told reporters Tuesday. “He’s been productive since he got here.”

Curry was considered a fringe top 100 prospect for the 2022 recruiting cycle. A 4-star defensive end, Curry graded out as the No. 123 player and No. 13 defensive end in the class per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Last season, Curry recorded 65 tackles, 24 tackles-for-loss, and 7 sacks for Center Grove High School. For his career, he finished with 290 total tackles, 83.5 tackles for loss and 28 sacks. Curry held offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, and others before committing to the Buckeyes.

Knowles, who previously served as defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State, told reporters that Curry will constantly put himself in a position to make a play. Because of that, it should lead to more reps in future games.
Both Knowles and Day expect Curry to expand his role when the Buckeyes play Toledo on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. E.T.
