Joshua Perry, Jake Butt discuss Michigan’s QB situation moving forward

Joshua Perry and Jake Butt, former Michigan tight end, discussed JJ McCarthy and Michigan’s strategy moving forward Thursday.
They both like what they saw from McCarthy, but want to see him do it against a tougher opponent rather than just Hawai’i.
“My expectations of him were high,” Perry said. “You won the B1G last year, you went to the College Football Playoff, you see Clemson breaking in a new quarterback, Ohio State, Alabama some of these schools, the expectation is when you play a team like Hawai’i you go down there and you do all of the things right. And that’s exactly what he did. From this start I saw two passes specifically that were great… outside of that for me, I didn’t learn very much about JJ McCarthy. This isn’t a disparagement, I want to see the guy go out there when its a critical situation, pressure is in your face, you gotta deliver an accurate strike.”

Obviously, competition is going to get stiffer for McCarthy. Will he improve or decline?
