Who will be the next coach at Nebraska? Will former Bob Stoops be a front-runner for the position following his success in Norman?

Stoops, 62, might be considered a favorite given the fact he’s been coaching in the XFL and looks to remain active. For now, that’s all he hopes to accomplish in his coaching career until further notice (Via 247 Sports).

“No one’s looking for me to have to say it, but no,” Stoops said during an interview on his personal YouTube channel. “I am not — that is not a job that I’m going to be interested in. I think it’s a heck of a job, great job. They’ve got an incredible following. So, someone will be lucky, you know, to have that great job, but that won’t be me.”

Nebraska fired Scott Frost Sunday following a 1-2 start to the new season. A legend in Lincoln thanks to his success as a quarterback.

Frost never found his footing as a coach. His best season came in 2019 when he led the Huskers to a 5-7 finish.

Frost finished his time with a 16-31 record in less than 5 seasons. The Huskers will finish out the year led by Mickey Joseph, who also played quarterback for the team during the 1980s.

Stoops, who last coached at Oklahoma full-time in 2016, is set to coach the revamped XFL Dallas franchise come Spring of 2023. All-time Stoops posted a record 191-48 during his 18 seasons with the program.

The No. 6 Sooners will face the Huskers on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln at noon E.T.
