Terry McLaurin, former Ohio State WR, announced as Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP

Terry McLaurin has been a star on the field since joining the Washington Commanders in 2019. Now, the former Ohio State WR is winning big off the field as well.

McLaurin was named the Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP after celebrating his birthday by kicking off his new foundation on Thursday. McLaurin celebrated turning 27 by inviting children from the Court Appointed Special Advocates of DC and Big Brothers Big Sisters, National Capital Area to FedEx Field for a special event.

The event included food, drinks, a tour of the Commanders’ locker room, and other amenities. To close out the festivities, McLaurin gave every participant a new pair of shoes, along with a grocery gift card to the guardian that brought them along.

“I’m just really excited to impact as many people as I can,” McLaurin said in a video posted by the Commanders’ social media staff. ”

In the Commanders’ season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, McLaurin kicked off the season in Scary Terry form. With new quarterback Carson Wentz, McLaurin recorded 2 catches for 58 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to give Washington the lead.

McLaurin spent 5 seasons at Ohio State, often serving as the Buckeyes’ No. 2 receiver. He finished his career with 75 catches for 1,251 yards and 19 touchdowns. His best season came in 2018 when he recorded 35 receptions for 701 yards and 11 scores.
