Watch: Mark Dantonio, MSU congratulate Morten Anderson on Hall of Fame induction

It requires a special talent to get inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That type of honor is even more difficult for a placekicker.

But longtime NFL and former Michigan State kicker Morten Anderson will be at the 2017 Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday night. He’ll be just the second placekicker inducted, joining Jan Strenrud.

Since Saturday will be a special day for Anderson, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio and the Spartans had a message for the kicker:

Anderson had a 25-year career in the NFL, setting league records for points scored (2,544), field goals made (565), field goals attempted (709) and games played (382). He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and was a two-time Golden Toe Award winner.

The MSU alum was drafted in 1982 by  New Orleans. After spending 13 seasons with the Saints, Anderson had stops in Atlanta, New York (Giants), Kansas City and Minnesota.

Anderson was at Michigan State from 1978 through 1981 and made 45 field goals, 129 extra points and totaled 261 points for his collegiate career.

He was inducted into the Michigan State Hall of Fame in 2011.
