It’s never too early to start predicting the College Football Playoff final four, even for analysts on College GameDay.
As the football season inches closer, ESPN analyst David Pollack couldn’t hold back from announcing his favorites to play for a national championship at the end of the 2017 campaign. And he tweeted his picks out on Tuesday night:
My final four for this college football season. Highest to lowest in confidence. Ohio State, Bama, Stanford, and Clemson.
— David Pollack (@davidpollack47) August 9, 2017
This early in the year, it’s not too surprising that Pollack has Alabama and Ohio State reaching the playoff, especially considering the two teams rank No. 1 and No. 2 in most polls. Clemson is the reigning national champion and Stanford…well Stanford seems like an odd choice.
Notice how Pollack is most confident that the Buckeyes will be back the playoff picture and is least confident in Clemson making a repeat appearance.
It certainly isn’t the first playoff discussion of the preseason and it likely won’t be the last. But having an analyst from GameDay tweet out his predictions makes the football season seem so, so close.
Is it time to kick the season off yet?
