Former Penn State defender Jesse Luketa is getting a chance to prove himself in the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals have promoted him from the practice squad as the corresponding move to the release of Deionte Thompson.

Luketa is a 6-foot-4, 247-pound linebacker from Ottawa, Ontario. He was recruited as a 4-star linebacker Nittany Lions as part of their 2018 class and went on to have a successful four years at Penn State. Luketa started out fast in Happy Valley, playing in 12 games as a freshman. He finished his career at Penn State having played in 46 games, starting 18 of those.

He was a third-team All-Big Ten player as a senior and played in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

The Cardinals took a flyer on Luketa in the seventh round of this past NFL Draft. He was drafted by Arizona with the 256th pick and is considered a “potential special team’s ace”, per the team’s website.
