The Big Ten has always been known for tough, hard-nosed football.
Sure, Urban Meyer and Ohio State may have brought a heavy dose of high-powered offense to the table back during his tenure, but winning Big Ten football oftentimes comes down to defense.
When you think defensive football, you think the Big Ten. You think of Iowa and Michigan State, who have thrived for years now as defensive-minded programs.
If you’re Pro Football Focus and you’re evaluating this college football season, you also think of Penn State Nittany Lions defensive end Chop Robinson and Michigan State linebacker Jacoby Windmon.
According to the grades, both players are among the highest-graded power-five defenders of this young college football season.
Highest-graded Power Five defenders this season:
🥇 Kobie Turner, Wake Forest – 91.7
🥈 Chop Robinson, Penn State – 91.6
🥉 Jacoby Windmon, Michigan State – 91.0
🏅 Keondre Coburn, Texas – 89.0(📸: @WakeFB ) pic.twitter.com/yXtShkyOwn

Robinson is only credited for one tackle so far this season but he’s apparently been making one heck of an impact. Windmon has been lighting it up for the Spartans with eight tackles, 5.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles.
